The Pierburg Curb Charger is an electric vehicle (EV) charger built directly into pavements or curbs, shown in the image below:

Pierburg’s Curb Charger supports convenient, accessible and low-impact charging for residents.
The Curb Charger is installed directly into the kerb, offering on-street charging without the need for additional posts or large roadside equipment. Its discreet design helps reduce street clutter and supports residents who do not have access to off-street parking, while maintaining space for pedestrians and other street users.
The pilot will also test an associated plug-in support tool designed to help people who may need additional assistance connecting to the charger.
The scheme is being funded by Welsh Government through the ULEV Transformation Fund and will help the Council understand how this type of charging technology could support future infrastructure in communities where off-street charging is not possible.
As part of the pilot, the Council will work with residents to gather feedback on how the chargers are used, how easy they are to access, and whether any further adaptations are needed. The council is also engaging with Motability to support testing of the unit and an associated support tool designed to help people with disabilities or reduced mobility use the charger.
