In May 2025, something special happened in Blaenau Gwent. The first-ever Blaenau Gwent Pride took over Bedwellty Park on 24 May—and what a day it was. 🌈
But this wasn’t just a celebration. It was a real-life example of the Blaenau Gwent Deal—people coming together, helping each other out, and creating something amazing for the community.
What made it so special?
It wasn’t big budgets or big companies—it was people. Local organisations, volunteers and supporters all chipped in to make it happen:

❤️ A welcoming home from Bedwellty House and Park and their hardworking staff
❤️ Brilliant hosting from Nathan Wyburn and Wayne Courtney, who gave their time for free
❤️ Local groups and partners stepping up to help
❤️ Performers and artists bringing the energy and fun
This is what the Deal is all about—everyone playing their part and supporting each other.

One of the biggest highlights? Our young people.
Their creativity was everywhere—from performances to artwork. The BG Pride Flag they created became a proud symbol of the day and everything it stood for.
They didn’t just take part—they helped shape what Pride looked like in Blaenau Gwent.
More than just one day
Pride 2025 showed what’s possible when a community works together. It was about belonging, support and showing what Blaenau Gwent is really about.
What’s next? 👀
We’re not stopping there…
Something new is coming in September 2026. And this time, it’s going to look a little different.
It will be led by our Youth Service LGBT+ groups, putting young people in charge and bringing fresh ideas, energy and creativity.
